🌟 Significance & Spiritual Importance

Vaikuntha Ekadashi (known as Mukkoti Ekadashi in Telugu states) is observed during Dhanurmasam on Margashirsha Shukla Ekadashi. Tradition holds that the gates of Vaikuntha (Vaikuntha Dvaram / Uttara Dvaram) are thrown wide open on this day. Passing through the northern gate of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala or any Vaishnava temple after observing strict fasting leads to liberation (Moksha). It also marks Gita Jayanti, the day Lord Krishna delivered the Bhagavad Gita to Arjuna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra.

Attainment of Vaikuntha abode, eradication of birth-death cycle, and honoring the Bhagavad Gita.

📜 Historical Background & Puranic Origins

Lord Vishnu opened the northern gateway of Vaikuntha for two demons Madhu and Kaitabha, granting salvation.
