🌟 Significance & Spiritual Importance

Naraka Chaturdashi, celebrated on the eve of Diwali, commemorates the day Goddess Satyabhama and Lord Sri Krishna slew the tyrannical demon Narakasura and freed 16,100 imprisoned maidens. In South India, this is the main day of festivities starting before dawn with fragrant sesame oil massage and herbal bath (Abhyangana Snana, likened to bathing in River Ganga), bursting firecrackers, and relishing festive sweets.

Destruction of demonic arrogance, liberation of captives, and purification of body and mind through Ganga-snana.

📜 Historical Background & Puranic Origins

Before dying, Narakasura requested that his day of death be celebrated with lamps and joyous celebrations by humanity.
