🌟 Significance & Spiritual Importance

Ugadi marks the first day of the year according to the Luni-Solar calendar followed in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Karnataka. The word Ugadi originates from Yuga (era) and Aadi (beginning), signifying the moment Lord Brahma commenced the creation of the cosmic universe. The day begins with early morning oil bath (Abhyangana Snana), wearing new clothes, decorating doorsteps with fresh mango leaves and colourful rangoli (Muggulu), tasting the symbolic Ugadi Pachadi, and listening to the annual forecast during Panchanga Sravanam.

Celebrates the commencement of cosmic time (Yugaadi) and teaches emotional balance through the six tastes of life in Ugadi Pachadi.

📜 Historical Background & Puranic Origins

According to Brahma Purana, Lord Brahma created the universe on Chaitra Shuddha Padyami. Lord Sri Rama was also crowned on this auspicious tithi.
